Premarital Seminar

You are either seriously dating or engaged and want to take the next step. With the rate of divorce almost at 50% it becomes extremely important to develop a plan so you don't become another statistic.

Research has shown that an effective premarital program can decrease your chances of divorce by up to 35%.

Here are some of the things you will learn and talk about:

• Your finances: is one a spender and one a saver, and how will work that out?
• Your leisure activities - what will remain the same, what will change?
• Sexuality. Have we talked details?
• Communication: Do we have a good system so we both feel understood and accepted?
• What will our roles and responsibilities look like after marriage?
• Personalities: Are our personalities set up for a long term relationship? Are we aware of the potential mine fields?
• Family and Friends: How will we deal with differences of opinion?
• Annoying Habits: What potential habits and pet peeves might send us into an escalating mode?
• Conflict Resolution: Do we have an agreed upon system for dealing with conflict?
• Anger Outbursts: If anger gets the best of us, do we have a system to deal with it?
• How are we as man and woman different - what struggles we will have that we can't see until after the wedding?
• Spirituality: Are we similar or dissimilar, how will we grow in this area?
• Children and Parenting: Are we on the same page?
• Occupations: What do our workloads look like?

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Roger Tirabassi.

Roger Tirabassi is a counselor, pastor, author, and seminar leader for singles as well as engaged and married couples. He is devoted to equipping couples and individuals to reach their potential.

Roger has a Master's degree in Pastoral Psychology and Counseling as well as a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, OH. In 1995, he founded Spiritual Growth Ministries, Inc., which presently serves pastors, couples, families and individuals through retreats, seminars and counseling. Roger is also a certified sports counselor.

Currently, Roger is serving part-time on the pastoral staff of ROCKharbor church in Costa Mesa as the pre-marital and marital enrichment pastor.

Roger frequently brings his counseling and relationship expertise to national television and radio venues such as, "The CBS Early Show", "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus", ESPN Radio's "The Golf Show" and The Golf Channel.

Along with his wife Becky, Roger has co-authored two books including, Let Love Change Your Life and , The Front Nine: Nine Fundamentals of Golf That Will Improve Your Marriage. Roger and Becky will soon celebrate their 32th wedding anniversary.

Chaplain Roy Gerber

Roy comes from an extensive business background and 20 years of experience including successfully starting and developing several companies. God's call on his life led him to become an Ordained Minister, and a Chaplain. He is the founder of His Chaplain For You and Paws for Cause, two non-profit organizations that serve the entire community by bringing hope, love and encouragement to challenging circumstances. He also performs unique, friendly and memorable wedding services.
